Amara built a solar lamp for her grandmother's shop

The power cut out most evenings at her grandmother's provisions shop, and Amara got tired of counting change by phone light. She asked her uncle for an old solar panel and spent three weekends wiring it to a bicycle lamp and a car battery from the scrapyard.

It failed twice. The first lamp scorched its own wiring. The second lasted four nights before the battery died. Amara kept a notebook of every failure, sketching the circuit each time something went wrong, until the third version held.

Now six shops on her street use versions of her design. A local electrician has started teaching the build in a weekend class, crediting Amara by name on the handout.
