About

What this is

Not every gathering needs a stage. Community Events are informal, member-organised meetups — a park picnic for chapter families, a book swap of favourite maker manuals, a screening of a documentary followed by discussion. Anyone with a Curious Generation™ membership can register one.

The Community Events toolkit gives organisers a simple checklist, printable signage and a small stipend for venues and snacks. We ask only that events stay welcoming, free or low-cost, and open to newcomers.

Some of the best ideas in the movement started as a community event: the Idea Book Swap now runs in 90 cities, and began as one mother's living-room gathering in Porto.

We started with six families in a park. Now it's forty and we've moved to the library.
